To participate in Johnson County Great Give Day and help make a positive impact on Johnson County nonprofits and those they serve, simply make a gift to any of the organizations listed below on May 1, 2024. Gifts on Johnson County Great Give Day may be eligible for specific match opportunities or campaigns, and will contribute toward the total philanthropic dollars raised for Johnson County nonprofits on Great Give Day! Simply peruse the list of nonprofit organizations below, which are also able to be searched based on their areas of work (Arts, Education, Environment, Health, Human Services, or Public Benefit) and click the organization’s name to learn more or make a gift directly through their website. Please note, some organizations have their own MATCH GIFTS available which will amplify your donations – check with individual organizations to find out if a match is available.

We seek to strengthen our community’s commitment to and participation in international exchanges on professional and individual levels.

Grow: Johnson County

Started in 2015, Grow: Johnson County is a six acre farm located on the Johnson County Historic Poor Farm in Iowa City, Iowa. Grow was created to fill the need for access to fresh and local fruits and vegetables, particularly in food pantries where much of the food readily provided is non perishable.

Horizons, A Family Service Alliance - Meals on Wheels of Johnson County

Horizons’ mission is to “instill hope, strengthen communities, and brighten futures by providing life-changing services to underserved populations.”

Houses into Homes

Houses into Homes provides gently-used beds, furniture, and household items for families and individuals in Johnson County who are exiting homelessness, domestic violence, and other crisis situations. Our mission is to help people feel the comfort of home and to do so in a way that honors their experience and engages them with unconditional positive regard.

Housing Trust Fund of Johnson County

The Housing Trust Fund exists to impact community development through the promotion and support of affordable housing in Johnson County. We promote and support (fund) the preservation and creation of housing that is affordable for people with low incomes.

I'm Glad You Stayed Project

The I’m Glad You Stayed Project strives to educate the public, especially teenagers, on real-time suicide prevention actions.

Immigrant Welcome Network Of Johnson County

Our mission is to empower and prevent homelessness among newly arrived immigrants and refugees by providing transitional housing, comprehensive support, education, advocacy, and assistance in securing permanent housing. Through these initiatives, we aim to create pathways to stability, opportunity, and empowerment.

Inside Out Reentry Community

Our mission: to support people involved in the criminal legal system in changing from the inside out, and to educate the public, in order to promote healing, restore relationships and achieve success in the community.

Iowa Brass

Iowa Brass is committed to a mission of cultural enrichment through the presentation of concerts that are both entertaining and educational.

Iowa City Bruisers

The IC Bruisers is a non profit dedicated to building strong & successful young adults through the sport of roller derby.

Iowa City Community Theatre

The Iowa City Community Theatre is a non-profit community organization dedicated to promoting the theatre arts in the Iowa City area. ICCT strives to provide an open venue for individual creative expression through participation in all aspects of producing high-quality amateur theatrical productions.

Iowa City Foreign Relations Council

ICFRC is an independent, non-partisan organization that hosts speaker programs, community forums, and educational experiences to help Iowans better understand international issues and foster global engagement.
